Description Rack Interface Module
(RIM) is the main interface of the 3301 rack. It supports proprietary protocols for configuring racks and retrieving machine information. The RIM must be in slot 1 of the rack (near the power supply). RIM supports compatible Bently Nevada external communication processors such as TDXnet, TDIX, and DDIX. Although RIM provides some functions common to the entire rack, it is not part of the critical monitoring path and will not affect the normal operation of the entire monitoring system. Each rack requires one RIM. For the third mock examination Redundancy (TMR) applications, the 3301 system requires a TMR version of RIM. In addition to all standard RIM functions, the TMR RIM performs a Monitor Channel Comparison. The 3301 TMR configuration uses the settings specified in the Monitor Options to implement monitor voting. The 3301 rack is in Trip Multiply. The CONFIG OK LED indicates that the 3301 rack has a valid configuration. The I/O module OK relay is used to indicate when the 3301 rack is operating normally or a fault is detected in the rack. The user can select "open" or "close" contacts to notify the NOT OK status. The relay always operates in the "normally energized" state. The OK relay is rated as 5A@24 Vdc/120 Vac, 120W/600 VA switching power supply. A normally closed contact arc suppressor is provided. The control front panel rack reset button clears the lock alarm and timed OK channel failure in the rack. Performs the same function as the Rack Reset contact on the I/O module. The address switch is used to set 63 possible rack addresses. The configuration key lock is used to place the 3301 rack in either the RUN mode or the PROGRAM mode. The operating mode allows the rack to operate normally and lock configuration changes. The programming mode allows the rack to operate normally and also allows local or remote rack configuration. The key can be removed from the rack at any position to keep the switch in the run or programmed position. Locking the switch in the RUN position allows you to limit unauthorized rack reconfiguration. Locking the switch in the PROGRAM position allows the rack to be remotely configured at any time.
