US Publications Installation Instructions Dynamic Braking ResistorDynamic braking is an optional control function that helps stop the motor under fault conditions or in response to coasting stops. Dynamic braking does not provide the function of holding braking, and is only effective when the motor is rotating. The resistor shall be sized for an external inertia equal to two or three times the motor inertia and suitable for three consecutive stops per hour from maximum speed. In order to use dynamic braking, the drive must be equipped with a normally closed contactor pole! Note: The National Electrical Code and local codes outline provisions for the safe installation of electrical equipment.
The installation must conform to the relevant wire type

NOTE: Failure to properly apply or install the dynamic brake may result in component damage or reduced product life. Wiring or application errors, such as improper wire size or excessive ambient temperature, may cause these devices to malfunction!
