Although not mandatory, this step is strongly recommended. Ideally, you can combine a transformation project with housekeeping activities from an existing custom code base. In particular, you need a unified view of effectively used custom development and should delete custom code that is no longer used. However, it is technically possible to perform these operations independently or in parallel. Preparatory activities
