Visually inspect the motor for damage. Check the motor frame front output shaft and mounting guide for any defects. Notify the carrier immediately of any transport damage. Keep the original packaging materials in case you need to return the product for repair or transport to another location. Use inner and outer packing boxes to provide adequate protection for unit returns for maintenance. Store or operate the motor in a clean and dry place under the environmental conditions listed in the specifications on page. Remove the shaft cover Remove the protective cover installed on the motor shaft by hand or pry off the cover with a screwdriver. Do not use hammers or other tools as they will damage the motor shaft. To avoid personal injury and motor damage, do not lift or handle the motor through the motor shaft. The cover on the shaft may be loose, causing the motor to fall. Be careful not to attempt to open and modify the motor. This manual describes the modifications that can be made on site. Do not perform modifications not described in this manual. Only authorized service centers can repair this item. Refer to Support for help finding the nearest service center. Series or smaller frame size low inertia brushless servo motor can prolong the service life of the motor. Proper design and maintenance can prolong the service life of the servo motor. Follow these guidelines to maximize the service life of the servo motor in your environment Always provide a drip loop in each cable to take liquid away from the motor connection. If possible, provide a protective cover to protect the motor housing shaft seal and its connections from foreign matter or liquid contamination. The shaft seal is easy to wear and needs regular inspection and replacement. According to the service condition, it is recommended to replace it once a month, but not more than months. For more information, refer to the shaft seal kit on page. Regularly check the motor and seals for damage or wear. If damage or excessive wear is found, replace the component. The brake option on this servomotor is a spring set to hold the brake, which releases when voltage is applied to the brake coil. Separate power is required to disengage the brake. The power supply can be applied through servo motor controller or manual operator control.
